.I thank all the readers for extending their support to the wonderful magazine Siddhitimes. Due to the over whelming support the magazine has come as the first of its kind throughout the country. During the past issues we discussed a lot about Vedic Astrology. In this issue I wish to discuss about how Vedic Astrology controls the health. Not many people realize that our health can be tracked in the stars! Each of the planets and the signs has particular areas of the body that they influence through their ruler ship. Aries Rules the Head, Taurus Rules the Throat, Gemini Rules the Breath, Cancer Rules the Breasts, Leo Rules the Heart, Virgo Rules the Abdomen, Libra Rules the Kidneys, Scorpio Rules the Secret Parts, Sagittarius Rules the Hips, Capricorn Rules the Knees, Aquarius Rules the Ankles and Pisces Rules the Feet. Let me briefly explain the notes of Atharva Veda on this subject.

Aries Rules the Head.

The head, taken as a whole, is ruled by Aries. The signs have an internal, external and structural relationship. Internally, Aries rules the brain and nerve centers, carotid arteries; externally the cranium, jaw and facial bones. Externally, the ruler ships are more complicated and other parts of the head and face are ruled by Taurus and Scorpio and all of the planets rule various other parts. For example, the Sun rules the right eye in the male, the left eye in the female, while the Moon rules the left eye in the male and right breast in the female. Aries is subject to all kinds of head complaints such as sinusitis, headaches, tooth and gum afflictions, baldness and are prone to accident or injuries to the head and face. As a sign of this celestial association, many Aries individuals are born with a birth mark on their head or face.

Taurus Rules the Throat

Each sign has external, internal and structural relationships. Externally, Taurus rules the throat, neck, ears and lower jaw. Internally, it rules the thyroid gland, pharynx, larynx, jugular vein, tonsils, Eustachian tubes, cervical ganglia and carotid arteries. Structurally, it rules the occipital, cervical vertebrae, lower jaw and teeth, chin and palate. The pathological tendencies of this sign are stroke, croup, tonsillitis, lymphatic stasis of the neck and head and laryngitis. Vulnerable parts of the body are the neck, throat, shoulders and upper torso. Stiff necks, sore throats and earaches are common Taurean complaints. Taurus rules the throat, giving a powerful, often beautiful voice. The influence of Venus opens up a world of musical talent and appreciation, so Taureans are good singers and musicians, or at least, love music and can be a force on the business side of music.

Gemini Rules the Breath

Each sign of the zodiac has external, internal and structural ruler ship. Externally, Gemini rules the shoulders and upper arms. Internally, Gemini rules the breath, nerve fibers, thymus gland, lungs, trachea and bronchi. Structurally, Gemini rules the clavicle, scapula and humerus. This double sign portends the native suffering from two diseases at the same time. The pathological action of this sign is nervousness, negativity, passivity, or even restlessness. Tuberculosis, asthma and anemia are common to the nativity. Vulnerable parts of the body are the arms, hands, fingers, lungs and nervous system, especially the sense of hearing. Respiratory problems and various nervous conditions are common to the people of Gemini. Gemini’s complaints are benefited with the orange rays. Gemini is traditionally considered a barren sign.

Cancer Rules the Breasts

The crab is Cancer's astrological symbol, so, when threatened, people with Cancer prominent in their chart tend to armor themselves by withdrawing into solitude. When upset, they use food as consolation, which in turn, results in obesity and food allergies.  The Sun in Cancer reflects a weakened physical constitution. Externally, it rules the breasts, epigastria region and the elbows. Internally, it rules the stomach, digestive organs, upper lobe of the liver, thoracic duct, pancreas, blood serum and womb. The entire act of digestion with peristalsis is ruled by Cancer. Indigestion, stomach ulcer, flatulence, jaundice, liver torpidity and mammary affections are common. Be on guard against lymphatic stasis. Structurally, Cancer rules the maxillae, bladder, blood serum and albumen. People with Cancer active in their charts are subject to coughs, indigestion, gas, gallstones, general problems with stomach, liver and intestines, plus emotional disorders such as depression, hypochondria and hysteria.

Leo Rules the Heart

Leo represents the heart of the physical system, a fire sign that heats the body and can lead to a loss of equilibrium between body and mind. Internally, Leo rules the heart, spinal cord, liver metabolism, spleen, pulmonary arteries and aorta, superior and inferior vena cava. Externally, the Lion governs the back and forearm, while structurally, the twelve dorsal vertebrae. The diseases of Leo predominately involve the heart, most seriously occlusion of cardiac arteries by blood clot or occlusion bringing on a heart attack. Nervous tension can affect the heart with palpitations and the like. The fire of Leo tends to fevers, especially heart-related issues such as peri carditis and rheumatic heart disease and is linked to jaundice and eye problems. Leo, though fond of children, is traditionally a barren sign.

Virgo Rules the Abdomen

Internally, Virgo rules the abdominal region, large and small intestines, spleen, solar plexus, lower lobes of the liver, pancreas, portal veins and has some influence on the generative organs. Externally, it rules the umbilicus, hands and nails. Structurally, it rules the carpal bones. Health conscious Virgo makes an effort to stay physically fit and Virgo people don't mind repetitive exercise routines, if they can see achievable outcomes. They enjoy tennis, racquetball, swimming, sailing, fishing, and biking, even though athletically they are not overly competitive. It's just that they always seek to perfect whatever skills they may have, primarily for the sake of doing a thing well. Talented in various crafts, dressmaking and designing, Virgo may also take a particular interest in such things as cartography, travel, and philately. Virgo rules the sinuses, respiratory system and bowels. Colds, flu, allergies, problems with intestines and constipation are common Virgoan complaints. Black moods and despondency from time to time can adversely affect others in the vicinity. Traditionally, Virgo is a barren sign.

Libra Rules the Kidneys

As each sign rules structural, external and internal relationships, Libra rules the excretory functions through the kidneys and skin. Externally it rules the lumbar region, buttocks, adrenals and vasomotor system. Structurally, the sign rules the lumbar vertebrae. The pathological tendencies of this sign are lumbago, kidney disease, uraemia, polyuria, renal calculi and oedema. Libra rules the kidneys, lower back and ovaries. Lower back pain, and problems caused by too much sugar or rich food are common complaints. Librans are also subject to interminable hovering between alternatives, or inability to make firm decisions, especially under pressure, when they can be pushed by others into taking steps they may later regret.

Scorpio Rules the Secret Parts

Each sign has an external, internal and structural ruler ship. Externally, Scorpio rules the nose and nasal bones, the pubic area and genital organs. Internally, it rules the gonads, hemoglobin, bladder, prostate, descending colon, sigmoid flexure and rectum. It has nfluence over the vocal cords and larynx. Structurally it rules the pubic bones, coccyx and nasal bones. This sign also influences the thymus and thyroid glands, liver, uterus, menstruation, sweat glands and the endocrine glands in general. Scorpio rules the reproductive organs and excretory system, so those with Scorpio active in their charts suffer headaches, infections and fevers, along with various illnesses to do with what used to be called the secret parts. Scorpio people however have a strong constitution and can usually overcome their problems, many of which are of their own making, due to their clandestine activities.

Sagittarius Rules the Hips

Externally, Sagittarius rules the region around the hips, gluteal muscles, thighs and has considerable influence over the muscles in general. Internally, it has ruler ship of the sciatic nerve, iliac arteries and veins and considerable influence on the liver, lungs and motor nerves. Structurally, it rules the four coccygeal vertebrae, sacral bones and femur. The diseases of Sagittarius particularly involve the hips and thighs. Injury to these areas is common, especially if horse-riding is involved. The pain of sciatica has long been associated with this sign. The expansive, pleasure loving influence of Jupiter inclines to the excessive consumption of rich food and drink, sometimes leading to arthritic pains in the hips. Since Sagittarius is a fire sign, the tendency to feverish complaints is also marked.

Capricorn Rules the Knees

Externally, Capricorn rules the joints (especially the knees), hair, teeth and skin; internally, the mucous membranes, the peripheral nerves and portions of the stomach. Structurally, it rules the skeleton, bones and patella. The planet Lord Sun is weak in this sign, but Capricorn does tend towards longevity unless afflicted by the planets Moon or Saturn. Many diseases result from business anxieties. The accidents from this sign are broken bones, sprains, dislocations and hurts from the knees and below. Sensitive skin, allergies, and broken bones are problems, while worrying too much can also result in physical disorders. Capricorn suffers from insecurity and anxiety in youth, but blossoms under Saturn in the later years. Capricorn people do not readily yield to disease, but once sick they hold onto the symptoms and can become hypochondriacs. Worry and anguish can also result in health problems like heart attacks if they are not careful to relieve their stress with proper exercise. The pathological tendencies are crystallization, dryness and constriction. Routine massage and foot reflexology can be of considerable benefit.

Aquarius Rules the Ankles

Externally this sign rules the calves, tibia and ankles. Internally, Sun in Aquarius rules the circulation, breath and eyesight; structurally, the bones of the lower limbs. It is closely associated with the blood and circulation, with a tendency toward impure blood. The pathological action of Aquarius is towards nervousness, gloom and sensitivity leading to habits and fixed ideas that make disease persist and linger. Aquarians are prone to varicose veins, hypertension and heart problems. Aquarius rules shins, ankles, and the circulatory system, while cramps, allergies, sudden illness and freak accidents are common for those with Aquarius active in their charts. They may also suffer from various nervous disorders.

Pisces Rules the Feet

Internally, Pisces rules the lymphatic system, sensorial fluids and functions of the glands in general. Externally, it rules the feet and toes and structurally the bones of the feet.

Swelling, allergic reaction to drugs, injuries to the feet and related problems are common complaints, but the Piscean emotional nature can also make them vulnerable to sychosomatic illness. The susceptibility of the Piscean nature to drugs and alcohol as a way of dealing with the pressures of the world needs to be addressed in a sensitive and realistic way.

Today’s medical world has become vast. The utilities and laboratory facilities have grown to a tremendous height. Without having anything or any facility like today, our ancestors have invented all these factors thousands of years back itself. All these are explained in Atharva Beda. In the next issue I will cheat you all with some more different ideas of Vedic Astrology. I pray Lord Shiva and Goddess Vanadurga to shower their entire blessings on all of us to have a comfortable living.

Precious Islamic short Stories

“There are such, some children they seek the help of God to punish some body whom they don’t like”

If you develop such wicked thoughts only out of your bad temperament. This attitude shows your jealousy. You are fit to be termed as a “Green Eyed Monster”. This attitude shows your inability and lack of perseverance in your Endeavours. On the other hand, friends you decry are endowed with ability and skill superior to you. In fact they are helped by God to earn name and fame on account of their good nature and righteousness.

In the city of Baghdad there lived a pious family. Salim and Alibaba were the two sons of the family. Salim elder to Alibaba always despised Alibaba since he was liked by all. Alibaba was very upright by nature and god – fearing salim was always found in a bad company and he was condemned by all for his evil thinking. The family had a living on the firewood cut from the forest. The brothers would go to forest to cut wood and they helped the family to survive with the money got from the sale of fire-wood. On his way to forest salim would often advise Alibaba to flee from their parents with the money got by the sale of the fire- wood. But Alibaba by nature was very kind compassionate and sympathetic towards his aged father and mother. So he did not accept the suggestion of Salim.

This made salim hate Alibaba and he was waiting for an opportunity to eliminate his younger brother. Once while returning home from the forest, the brothers saw a band of robbers sitting under a tree and were sharing the booty stolen from a village. They then hide their share wrapped in pieces of cloth under a tree and left the place. Salim wicked by nature, compelled Alibaba to take away the hidden treasure, for them. But Alibaba as was usual with him said. “Dear brother, they were ill-gotten money. God will punish them for their sin. But we should not be a part in the share of the robbers. Please drop this evil thought”. But Salim did not pay need to what Alibaba had said. He stayed behind to carry out his wicked plan. After two days when the brothers came to forest, they were suddenly surrounded by the robbers. The head of the band caught hold of the brothers and wielded a knife to kill them if they failed to surrender the treasure. But Alibaba pleaded his innocence and begged the robbers to spare their lives for the sake of their aged parents. Salim was all the while keeping quiet. His behaviour raised some doubt in the minds of the robbers. When the robbers started beating them Alibaba cried bitterly and said he was not aware of their treasure. But suddenly Salim said. “Sir I saw my brother digging out the bundles from the earth under the tree. He had taken them and hide some where”. Salim thought that was the right apportuner time for him to do away with his brother and live happily. But Alibaba stood on his point firmly and said “In the name of God I am not aware of the bundles”.

The head of the robbers suddenly thought of a plan. He said to the brothers that he would give them 5minuter time. If they failed to return their six bundles, they would kill them. Alibaba continued to stand on his innocence. But Salim said “Wo sir, there were only five bundles” This was sufficient for the robbers. They beat Salim severely and chopped down his right hand Salim faced the wrath for his wickedness the main cause of suffering is thus rooted in man’s own actions. Man’s greed, avarice, pride, sensuality, suffering to his fallow man and to himself, spirit of revenge, jealousy and craning for power cause these results. Much suffering could be avoided if this cause was removed. To do this we must pray and understand God’s plan for us. The presence of evil and wicked nature in a man is a challenge to God’s love for him. Certain persons find it difficult to reconcile evil with a loving God who cares for the world. They see the wonderful creations of God on the one hand and on the other they are faced with misery and unbearable sufferings.

(Amazing Story of Caring Friendship)
The Three Cows

There was a green and fresh Pasture in which three cows lived, a white cow, a black cow and a reddish brown one. The cows were kind to each other. They were nice to each other. They used to graze in the meadow together and they used to sleep near each other. Till it happened one day, the reddish brown coloured lion of the forest happened to pass that way. The lion was unhappy. It was hungry and was looking for a prey. On catching sight of the cows it became glad but could not attack them. Because they were to gather. So the lion sat in a corner and waited till the cows would separate from each other. The cows were together and wouldn’t part away from each other, because they knew if they were together, no predator could attack them. The lion lay in ambush nearly for two or three days. But the cows would not part away. And continued to remain together, The lion became unhappy A plan occurred to it. It went towards the cows greeted them and said. “How are you my friends? Are you find I have been remembering you for a long time but because I am too busy, I can’t come to you and ask about your health. to day I said to my self “Any how I should come and see you from near and visit you”.

The reddish brown cow said. “Sir, your coming has really pleased us and brightened our pasture”. The Lion said “I have always remembered you, and have even ordered a better pasture made ready for you”.

The reddish brown cow said. “Sir you have really obliged us and we are very thankful to you”. Both the white and black cows were troubled by what their friend the reddish brown cow said, and were grieved at its thoughtlessness. They feared lest it should be deceived. They said to each other “Which forest has got a better pasture. Why does the reddish brown cow believe. what the lion says?

Doesn’t it know the lions seek other animals only to prey on them?

The reddish brown cow became more and more a close friend of the lion each day. The black cow and the white cow advised it as much as they could but with no avail. One day the lion said to the reddish brown cow. “You know that the color of our bodies is dark and that the color of the body of the white cow is light and you also know that light is apposite of the dark. It would be very good if I eat the white cow The reddish – brown cow accepted the saying of the selfish lion and started talking to the block cow to keep it busy so that the lion could eat the white cow with more ease. The white cow was left alone and was killed. While the black and the reddish brown cows were busy with idle talks. Two or three days passed since the lion had devoured the white cow. The lion angry and uneasy was lying in a corner and the reddish brown cow was moving around the lion and grazing.  The lion called the reddish brown cow.

The cow answered “Yes sir”.

The lion said it would eat the black cow The lion attacked and devoured the black cow too. And as for the reddish brown cow it was so filled with joy that it did not know what to do. It roamed and grazed and said to itself. “It is only me who has the color of the lion”.

A few days passed since the black cow had been devoured by the lion. Then the lion roared and ordered the reddish brown cow to come forward. “To day it is your turn get yourself ready. I am going to eat you”. The reddish brown cow said with fear and horror. “I am your friend please allow me to cry out three times before you eat me”.

The Lion said “Quickly Quickly”. The reddish brown cow cried out “I was eaten the very day the white cow was eaten. I was eaten the every day the black cow was eaten. I was eaten the very day I made friendship with you”. The lion devoured the reddish brown cow very quickly and said to itself. “Now I had better go to other forests.

COMMANDER SELVAM discussing about LORD SHIVA

03.29.09 (4:05 pm)   [edit]

Spirituality.

During the past issues we discussed a few points of Spirituality explained in Upanishads, Bhagavad-Gita and Ramayana. In this issue we will discuss about the spirituality told in Mahabharata. I whole heartedly thank Almighty and Swamiji for blessing me with more and more opportunities to discuss my ideas on Spirituality. The Mahabharata is one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India, the other being the Ramayana. The epic is part of the Hindu itihasa, and forms an important part of Hindu philosophy. It is of immense importance to culture in the Indian subcontinent, and is a major text of Hinduism. Its discussion of human goals (dharma or duty, artha or purpose, Kama or pleasure, and moksha or liberation) takes place in a long-standing tradition, attempting to explain the relationship of the individual to society, the world and the workings of karma. With more than 74,000 verses the Mahabharata is one of the longest epic poems in the world. It is about four times the size of the Ramayana. Including the Harivamsa, the Mahabharata has a total length of more than 90,000 verses. Besides its epic narrative of the Kurukshetra War and the fates of the Kauravas and the Pandavas, the Mahabharata contains much philosophical and devotional material, such as the Shrimad Bhagavad-Gita, or a discussion of the four "goals of life" or purusharthas. The later are enumerated as dharma (right action), artha (purpose), Kama (pleasure), and moksha (liberation). This great epic was dictated to Lord Ganesha by the great sage Veda Vyasa. Since Lord Ganesha cannot find the proper writing materials, he broke one of his tusks and wrote the epic on the hill called Meru. Among the principal works and stories that are a part of the Mahabharata the following are very famous. This book is divided into eighteen “parvas” or books. The parvas are again subdivided into chapters. The last two chapters are called as Harivamsa and it tells about the life and death of Lord Krishna. 1 Adi Parva (The Book of the Beginning) explains how the Mahabharata came to be narrated by Sauti to the assembled rishis at Naimisharanya. The recital of the Mahabharata at the Sarpayaga conducted by Janamejaya by Vaishampayana. Vaishampayana is the other name of sage Vedavyasa. The history of the Bharata race is told in detail and the parva also traces history of the Bhrigu race. The birth and early life of the Kuru princes. (the word adi means first) 2 Sabha Parva (The Book of the Assembly Hall) Maya Danava erects the palace and court (sabha), at Indraprastha. Life at the court, Yudhishthira's Rajasuya Yajna, the game of dice, and the eventual exile of the Pandavas. 3 Vana Parva also Aranyaka-parva, (The Book of the Forest) the twelve years of exile in the forest (aranya). 4 Virata Parva (The Book of Virata) the year in incognito spent at the court of Virata. 5 Udyoga Parva (The Book of the Effort) Preparations for war and efforts to bring about peace between the Kurus and the Pandavas which eventually fail (udyoga means effort or work). 6 Bhishma Parva (The Book of Bhishma) the first part of the great battle, with Bhishma as commander for the Kauravas and his fall on the bed of arrows. 7 Drona Parva (The Book of Drona) the battle continues, with Drona as commander. This is the major book of the war. Most of the great warriors on both sides are dead by the end of this book. 8 Karna Parva (The Book of Karna) the battle again, with Karna as commander. 9 Shalya Parva (The Book of Shalya) the last day of the battle, with Shalya as commander. Also told in detail is the pilgrimage of Balarama to the fords of the river Saraswati and the mace fight between Bheema and Duryodhana which ends the war, since Bheema kills Duryodhana by smashing him on the thighs with a mace. 10 Sauptika Parva (The Book of the Sleeping Warriors) Ashvattama, Kripa and Kritavarma kill the remaining Pandava army in their sleep. Only 7 warriors remain on the Pandava side and 3 on the Kaurava side. 11 Stri-parva (The Book of the Women) Gandhari, Kunti and the women (stri) of the Kurus and Pandavas lament the dead. 12 Shanti-parva (The Book of Peace) the crowning of Yudhisthira as king of Hastinapura, and instructions from Bhishma for the newly anointed king on society, economics and politics. This is the longest book of the Mahabharata (Shanti means peace). 13 Anushasana-parva (The Book of the Instructions) the final instructions (anushasana means rules and regulations) from Bhishma. 14 Ashvamedhika-parva (The Book of the Horse Sacrifice) the royal ceremony of the Ashvamedha (Horse sacrifice) conducted by Yudhisthira. The world conquest by Arjuna. The Anugita (supplementary to Srimad Bhagavad-Gita) is told by Krishna to Arjuna. 15 Ashramavasika-parva (The Book of the Hermitage) the eventual deaths of Dhritarashtra, Gandhari and Kunti in a forest fire when they are living in a hermitage in the Himalayas. Vidura predeceases them and Sanjaya on Dhritarashtra's bidding goes to live in the higher Himalayas. 16 Mausala-parva (The Book of the Clubs) the infighting between the Yadavas with maces (mausala) and the eventual destruction of the Yadavas. 17 Mahaprasthanika-parva (The Book of the Great Journey) the great journey of Yudhisthira and his brothers across the whole country and finally their ascent of the great Himalayas where each Pandava falls except for Yudhisthira. 18 Svargarohana-parva (The Book of the Ascent to Heaven) Yudhisthira's final test and the return of the Pandavas to the spiritual world (svarga). Out of these eighteen great books, the morality to be adopted by an individual is mostly taught. The rules and regulations told in these great books are applicable from the topmost to the bottom most. By adopting the rules, regulations and moralities of Mahabharata, one can set as a practical example to the entire world. The intellectual giants like Bishma, Drona, Yudishtira and Lord Krishna showed the path to lead a peaceful spiritual life. They are the important rules and practical lessons to lead a calm, peace and brave spiritual life. The Bhagavad-Gita in book 6 (Bhishmaparva): Krishna advises and teaches Arjuna when he is ridden with doubt. These teachings are not only meant for Arjuna but for one and all in the universe. The teachings match from the day of epics to till date. It will also match well for the future also. As a great epic, the Mahabharata has put an enormous effort to cultivate spirituality and moralities into the regular lives of the human being. There is no partiality in the human race such as emperor or the last citizen. The core story of the work is that of a dynastic struggle for the throne of Hastinapura, the kingdom ruled by the Kuru clan. The two collateral branches of the family that participate in the struggle are the Kaurava and the Pandava. Although the Kaurava is the senior branch of the family, Duryodhana, the eldest Kaurava, is younger than Yudhisthira, the eldest Pandava. Both Duryodhana and Yudhisthira claim to the first in line to inherit the throne. The struggle culminates in the great battle of Kurukshetra, in which the Pandavas are ultimately victorious. The battle produces complex conflicts of kinship and friendship, instances of family loyalty and duty taking precedence over what is right, as well as the converse. The Mahabharata itself ends with the death of Lord Krishna, and the subsequent end of his dynasty, and ascent of the Pandava brothers to heaven. It also marks the beginning of the Hindu age of Kali (Kali Yuga), the fourth and final age of mankind, where the great values and noble ideas have crumbled, and man is heading toward the complete dissolution of right action, morality and virtue. By reading and understanding the Mahabharata one can easily understand what humanity is and what all the essentialities of humanity are. By being the best human the Yudishtira shown himself as the best example for the human being. Even though he was hurt in many ways he never came back from the dharma. Thatswhy he is remembered as Dharmaputra. He stands as an example for dharma. He never cared for anything other than dharma. The next is Bheema. He stands as an example for his dedicated devotion. Wherever else he is, he used to worship Lord Shiva. He got a lot of boons from Lord Shiva. Even though he got lot of boons from Lord Shiva he never misused it. The next is Arjuna. He had the closest relationship with Lord Krishna. Even though he had Lord Krishna’s closest relationship, he never misused it. The next celebrity of the entire epic is Karna. He is the practical example for the thankfulness and friendship. He even sacrificed his life for the sake of friendship and thankfulness. Like the aforesaid there are a lot of examples in the entire epic. These are all for the positive side. The epic has examples for the negative sides also. The examples are Duriyodana, Duchathana, Sakuni and many more people like these. By looking through these people one can clearly understand how one should not behave in the society. Out of these eighteen books the 1st to 5th explain the complete life of the prince, princess, kings and queens. The 6th book to 11th book talks about the battle. The 12th book tells about the peace. The book number 13 has the standard rules and regulations formulated by the greatest scholar Bishma. By following these rules and regulations one can set as a practical example to the society. One can be the best spiritual human being. The same book contains the “Vishnu Sahasranamam” (one thousand eight names of Lord Mahavishnu). Book 14 tells the duties of an emperor or a king. It also details the procedure of the greatest ritual called Ashvamedha conducted by Yudishtira. Book 15 details about the retired life of Drutarashtra and his wife. It also describes about the last minutes of Drutharashtra, his wife and Padavas’ mother Kunti. The book 16 tells about the war between the Yadhavas. It is just a kind of group fight. Because of the group fight the Yadhava dynasty itself was ruined. The book 17 explains the journey of Pandavas across the whole country and about the discussions of Yudishtira with the god of dharma. It is considered as one of the most important part of the great epic. This portion tells about the basic moralities to be followed by the normal human being. The book 18 is the ending part of the great epic. This explains the result of Yudishtira and tells about the return of Pandavas to the spiritual world. One cannot become great by simply going through the books of spirituality. If everybody try to follow the basic moralities taught in the holy books the society will become the greatest. There will be no struggles at all. The entire universe will be the “universe of peace”. As per the sayings of Swamiji Sri.Selvam Siddhar, we all can have a very comfortable living. I thank the Almighty and Swamiji for giving me an opportunity to share my thoughts on spirituality. I pray them to bless me with more and more chances to share my thoughts on spirituality.

Mahashivarathri Festival at Hindu Temple of Georgia

01.28.09 (7:29 pm)   [edit]
Significance of Mahashivaratri. Mahashivaratri (the great night of Shiva) falls on the fourteenth day of the dark fortnight of Phalguna (February- March), and is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. This festival is purely religious in nature and universally observed by all Hindus. On this day devotees sing bhajans in honor of Shiva, recite Sanskrit shlokas (verses) from scriptures, offer prayers in the morning and evening, and some observe fasting throughout the day. People visit nearby temples of Shiva and offer prayers in large crowds. The prayers and worship continue late into the night when the devotees offer coconut, Bilva leaves, fruits, and specially prepared sacred food to Shiva and his divine consort Parvati. His devotees consider offering Bilva leaves to Shiva on Shivaratri as very auspicious. The origin of Shivaratri is attributed to several stories in Hindu beliefs. One very popular story traces the origin of this festival to the churning of the Ocean of Milk by devas (gods) and asuras (demons). It is said that when both gods and demons were churning the Ocean of Milk to obtain amrita (water of immortal life), they came across many unusual substances, including the deadly poison “Aalakaala” also called as “Kalakuta”. As soon as they touched the poison, it exploded into poisonous fumes that threatened to envelope the entire universe by darkness. When the destruction of the universe seemed inevitable, the gods ran for assistance from Brahma and Vishnu, but neither was able to help. At last, they ran to Lord Shiva, who raised his trident and condensed the fumes. In order to save the creation, Shiva swallowed the poison without spilling a single drop. The poison left a dark blue mark on Shiva's throat. The gods praised and worshipped Shiva for saving the universe. The above story is symbolic of the fact that individuals perform actions in the world in order to achieve happiness. In this process, a person is usually overpowered by greed and selfishness, ruining his or her efforts for obtaining peace and happiness. Thus the only way to achieve peace and happiness is by worshipping Shiva at night. This festival is celebrated as a purely religious festival by all Hindus. Another story in Hindu beliefs also emphasizes the auspiciousness of Shivaratri: On the day of Shivaratri, a hungry lion chased a hunter, who had killed many birds in a forest. The hunter climbed a Bilva tree to save himself from the lion's attack. The lion waited throughout the entire night at the bottom of the tree for its prey. In order to stay awake to avoid falling from the tree, the hunter kept plucking the leaves of the Bilva tree and dropping them below. The leaves fell on a Shiva Lingam that happened to be located at the bottom of the tree. Shiva was pleased by the offering of the Bilva leaves by the hunter, although inadvertently, and saved the hunter in spite of all the sins the hunter had committed by killing the birds. This story emphasizes the auspiciousness of worshipping Shiva with Bilva leaves on Shivaratri. Seeing enormous Linga shapes of Lord Shiva in one premise is very ordinary one. But seeing and worshipping of enormous images of Lord Shiva is the most extras ordinary one. According to Vedic scriptures, performing Pooja to Lord Shiva or having the darshan of Lord Shiva, on MahaShivarathri day gives the benefit of doing Pooja or having Lord Shiva’s darshan continuously for the whole year. If the same devotee gets the darshan of numerous images of Lord Shiva, assume the quality or quantity of Lord Shiva’s blessing to that devotee. It is enormous. The only Hindu Temple with enormous images of Lord Shiva is Hindu Temple of Georgia. It is the only Shiva Temple in the entire world, where the devotees can perform “Kanankabishega” (pouring of gold coins) to the “Maragatha Linga”.The kanakabishega gives more benefits than any other offerings. This year Maha Shivaratri falls on Monday, the 23rd of February. This year MahaShivarathri is more pious than any other Shivarathris as it falls on Monday, Lord Shiva’s day. By having Shiva’s darshan on Mondays we can fulfill all our ambitions by the blessings of Lord Shiva. We can wash out all the sins and become the purest. DR COMMANDER SELVAM - ONLY ATHARVA VEDIC SWAMIJI IN USA

01.14.09 (5:16 pm)   [edit]
Lohiri or Sun god’s festival of Rajasthan. India is very famous for the festival. It is also a noted country for “university in diversity”. The harvest festival is celebrated country wide under various names. One of the important festivals is called as “Makara Sankaranthi”. Even though it is celebrated under various names the centre theme of the celebration is one. Makar Sankranti is the day when the Sun God begins its ascendancy and entry into the Northern Hemisphere. Sun for Hindus stands for Pratyaksha Brahman - the manifest God, who symbolizes, the one, non-dual, self-effulgent, glorious divinity blessing one and all tirelessly. Sun is the one who transcends time and also the one who rotates the proverbial wheel of time. In this short essay we will see how the festival is celebrated in Punjab. Punjab is very famous for the cultivation of wheat. This day is considered as a “thanks giving day to the Sun God”.In the southern parts of India this day is celebrated under various names such as Makara Sankaranthi and Pongal. In Eastern parts of India the festival is celebrated in the name Sankaranthi in Bihar, Makar Sankaranthi in Orissa and West Bengal, and as Bohali Bihu in Assam. In Western parts of India the festival is celebrated in the name of Uttarayan or kite flying festival in Gujarat and Sankaranti in Maharashtra. In Northen parts of India Himachal Pradesh and Punjab the day is celebrated as Lohiri. We will see how the Lohiri is celebrated in Punjab. The origin of the Lohri can be traced back to the tale of Dulla Bhatti. By the end of the first week of January, small groups of boys ring the doorbell of houses and start chanting the Lohri songs related to Dulla Bhatti. In turn, the people give them popcorn, peanuts, crystal sugar, sesame seeds or jaggery as well as money. Turning them back empty-handed is regarded inauspicious. Lohri marks the end of winter on the last day of Paush, and beginning of Magha (around January 12 and 15), when the sun changes its course. It is associated with the worship of the Sun God, Fire God and is observed by all communities with different names, as Lohri is an exclusively Punjabi festival. The origin of Lohri is related to the central character of most Lohri songs is Dulla Bhatti, a Muslim highway robber who lived in Punjab during the reign of Emperor Akbar. Besides robbing the rich, he rescued Hindu girls being forcibly taken to be sold in slave market of the Middle East. He arranged their marriages to Hindu boys with Hindu rituals and provided them with dowries. Understandably, though a bandit, he became a hero of all Punjabis. Some believe that Lohri has derived its name from Loi, the wife of Sant Kabir, for in rural Punjab Lohri is pronounced as Lohi. Others believe that Lohri comes from the word 'loh', a thick iron sheet tawa used for baking chapattis for community feasts. Another legend says that Holika and Lohri were sisters. While the former perished in the Holi fire, the latter survived. Eating of sesame seeds and jaggery is considered to be essential on this day. Perhaps the words til and rorhi merged to become tilorhi, which eventually got shortened to Lohri. Ceremonies that go with the festival of Lohri usually consists of making a small image of the Lohri goddess with gobar (cattle dung), decorating it, kindling a fire beneath it and chanting its praises. The final ceremony is to light a large bonfire at sunset, toss sesame seeds, jaggery, sugar-candy and rewaries in it, sit round it, sing, dance till the fire dies out. People take dying embers of the fire to their homes. In Punjabi village homes, fire is kept going round the clock by use of cow-dung cakes. Time of Lohri According to the Hindu calendar, Lohri falls in mid-January (13th to 15th of January). The earth, farthest from the sun at this point of time, starts its journey towards the sun, thus ending the coldest month of the year and announcing the start of the summer season. While Lohri is essentially a Punjabi festival, it is celebrated in some other states of North India as well. In cities like Delhi, which have a predominant Punjabi population, Lohri is celebrated to denote the last of the coldest days of winter. Apart from Punjab, people from other northern Indian states of Haryana, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh, become busy making preparations for Lohri. For them, Lohri is an appropriate occasion to come out of their homes and celebrate the harvesting of the Rabi (winter) crops and give in to relaxing and enjoying the traditional folk songs and dances. In houses that have recently had a marriage or childbirth, Lohri celebrations will reach a higher pitch of excitement. Punjabis usually have private Lohri celebrations, in their houses. Lohri rituals are performed, with the accompaniment of special Lohri songs. A bonfire is made and a prayer is performed to Agni, the god of Fire, and Prasad is distributed. The prasad comprises five main foods - til, gachchak, gur, moongphali (peanuts) and phuliya or popcorn. Milk and water are also poured around the bonfire by Hindus. This ritual is performed for thanking the Sun God and seeking his continued protection. Lohri Celebrations Singing and dancing form an intrinsic part of the celebrations. People wear their brightest clothes and come to dance the bhangra and gidda to the beat of the dhol. Punjabi songs are sung, and everybody rejoices. Sarson ka saag and makki ki roti is usually served as the main course at a Lohri dinner. Lohri is a great occasion that does not hold importance for farmers alone but also to those people residing in the urban area, as this festival provide the opportunity to interact with family and friends. Even though the traditions followed are different the centre theme of the festival is the same. So, we will also celbrate this holy day in our traditional style and thank the Almighty for blessing all of us with a comfortable living.

08.22.08 (5:52 pm)   [edit]
There prevailed a doubt among the devotees of Lord Shiva and the devotees of Lord Maha Vishnu, on the universe, the heaven and pathala-loga and everywhere. The doubt was relating to the leadership questioning the superiority between Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. The sages then went to Lord Shiva and wanted to have their doubt cleared. The beautiful sayings of Lord Shiva "SHIVASYA HRUDHAYAM VISHNU-VISHNOSCHA HRUDHAYAM SHIVA" this explains well that whom they think as Shiva is Vishnu and whom they believe as VISHNU is SHIVA. Two imperial powers that exist in unity. The Thathva is also same “Hari and Shiva are in one” looking to the affairs of universe and the zodiac, there occur the lot of problems and the remedies in which the two Deities are always involved for the welfare of earth, people, and divines. This is the net result whenever the deities do either destructions or constructions either individually or jointly. The joint-responsibility safe guards mankind and all the worlds. This is the theory we can observe in all the happenings. So Lord Shiva is honored as SANKARA NARAYANA. There is a sacred place so called as "SANKARAN KOVIL" in TAMILNADU. HINDU TEMPLE OF GEORGIA-BIKSHADHANA MOORTHY

08.22.08 (5:52 pm)   [edit]
A Poem in sanskrit defines "SWAYAM MAHESHA SWASURO NAGESHA SAKA DHANESAHA SUTHO GANESHA THAVAAPI BIKSHADHANA SEVA SAMBO BAREE YASI KEVALAM EASWARA KHAHA". Once, long back, there held a argument between the Rishis and their wives. Rishis were on firm faith on meditation and declared that the meditation was the best one. But the wives of Rishis and Brahmins strongly objected and expressed that it was chastity that alone could prove best among all. The chastity could be maintained with the base of discipline where one could find the neatness and chastity and that place would be full of Godliness. The chastity explained further, one should live with pure love with only one person as a husband or wife till to the end of life. When the argument was going endless, there a “young beautiful man" appeared with all the charming. He was having a "Thiruvodu" a earthen vessel to collect food. All the wives of Brahmins and Rishis were attracted by his beauty and lost their chastity on the act of admiring a stranger. Purity in heart was spoiled since the thought of love with the stranger considered sinful. The Brahmins and Rishis by virtue of their rituals, wanted to destroy the young man. They sent a venomous serpent to kill him. But the serpent did not do any harm to the young man who took the snake and garlanded himself on his neck. The young man was Lord Shiva the Almighty who taught the lessons to the Rishis and their wives. All of them fell at the feet of Lord Shiva and got the blessings. The meditation is the best for ever. This facet is called "BIKSHADHANA MOORTHY”. Lord came as a man for Biksha (food) and gave the blessings to his devotees.

08.22.08 (5:49 pm)   [edit]
The devotees of Lord Shiva were of different natures. Once the Brigu Rishi came to Shivaloga and waiting for the Dharsan of “Lord Shiva”. The God was not alone. He was with His wife Goddess Uma Devi. The Rishi after waiting for long time could not be able to offer worship Lord Shiva. Several people, they know only one but it is a firm thing. They do not know anything else. Giving importance to other is also not their habit. Being the deserving devotee to Lord Shiva, the Rishi changed himself as ‘Vandu’ (a insect like Bee) and flew around the head of the Lord shiva and worshipped. Goddess Uma Devi got angry and the entire blood and flesh of the Rishi was taken away as punishment of Uma Devi. The theory is this that in every one’s body Lord Shiva is in the form of bone, and the other like flesh and blood are of Uma Devi. Knowing the pitiable state of Rishi, Lord Shiva gave him shelter with a stick and the peacock-feather. Being husband and wife Lord shiva and Goddess Parvathi merged in one form sharing right half to be of the Lord and the left half to be of Uma Devi. So, no one could separate them. No one should ask any boon with out the help of Goddess Uma Devi. All devotees should pray Lord Shiva in this facet of UMAI YORU BAGA MOORTHY. This exposes a dogma, which could never separate Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. It is ascertained. So, the whole theory deepens the solidarity of SHAKTHI and SHIVA IN ONE FORM. That is the truth imposed in every heart of the devotees. In several cases, the under officials, may not be obliging with the justful needs but one can deal with head of the department directly. Even if we get sanction, the under officials can create delay or spoil the whole thing. In such a calamity, the prayer to UMAI ORU BAGA MOORTHY will help them to get success.

That's why Swamiji always tells to his followers that “YOU ARE GOING TO LIVE ACCORDING TO YOUR THOUGHTS”. Also he often says that if you want to encash your Punya/ blessings, you could certainly do so, however if you want to buy Punya/Blessings with the money , certainly it is impossible.

As said by our Swamiji Sri Sri Selvam “Siddhar”, the real fact is that, the Karma cannot be changed, where as we could admit our Karma in a comfortable way and our Swamiji is the only Swamiji in USA specialized in the same subject. Most of the Swamijis when coming to USA, they come with some kinds of message or some kinds of Expertise, where as our Swamiji came to USA with his fullest blessings of the Angels (Yaksha Devathaas) and fully with the knowledge of the Atharva Veda. It is also the fact that Atharva Veda is the only Veda that deals with the application part of the Yantra, Thantra and Mantra.

Swamiji always says that we need to be blessed before we bless someone. Swamiji always boldly says that he is doing business with god, with a meaning that, hardly Swamiji comes to USA just to serve or help someone. Most of them comes to USA only for money or for better living. This cannot be and should not be forgotten. However lot of Swamijis, when they visit USA  they would always say that, they came here to bless their community or people. If a Swamiji is coming all the way from India, or any where else, why he/she cannot first bring forward or settle the problems of thousands of people who need help in their mother land itself before entering in to USA?. Several persons, do not know how to make their life comfortable but comes out under the name of swamiji and say that, they could give comfort to others. They may be presenting numerous charitable ideas when they collect money. However according to the Veda a Swamiji/Saadhu (a spiritual person)means, a person, who do not have any kind of material desire in his/her life. It would be very hard to see those kind of people through our naked eyes . Our Swamiji is the only Swamiji boldly admits that he is doing Business with the God. Even in his past, he has helped a lot of Swamijis to settle their own personal problems as an Atharva Vedic scholar.

Swamiji  His Holiness Sri Sri Selvam”Siddhar “ is the 1st Indian in the whole Hindu Lineage and Tamilian to donate RS.100 Crores ( 22 Million US Dollars) as a single Donation to build the ONLY SHIVA TEMPLE IN THE UNIVERSE WITH 108 SHIVA IMAGES. The only youngest “Siddhar” Swamiji in North America with the Highest followers. Swamiji is now building the most expensive Hindu Temple in Norcross, Georgia- USA

Sri Atharva Soolini Durga at Hindu Temple of Georgia

Sri Soolini Durga is the wife of Sri.Sarabeswara. She is another form of Goddess Parasakthi. There are three shapes for each and every deity. They are Santham, Ugram and Maha ugram. It means calm, fearsome and the most fearsome. SriMeenakshi, Sri Kamakshi are the examples for calm poses of Goddess Parasakthi. Sri.Durga is the example for Ugram and Sri Soolini Durga and Prathyangira Devi are the examples for the most fearsome poses. When we need the motherly affection we have to pray the Santha shapes. To get rid of moderate troubles we have to pray ugra shapes as Sri.Durga. To solve the sever problems we face in our day to day life we have to pray the Maha ugram poses. Atharva Veda is the only Veda, which deals with the healing part. It explains in detail about the different methods of prayers and rituals to get rid of our problems. Sri.Soolini Durga plays a vital role in solving the problems faced by each and every body. Sri.Soolini Durga Hrudayam, a part of Atharva Veda and an old palm script compiled by a great monk, “Prapancha sara sara Sangraham” tells in detail about Sri.Soolini Durga. According to those wonderful writings, we will see about Sri.Soolini Durga.

Lord Mahavishnu took the most fearsome pose Narasimha and came out of the pillar, caught the demon took him to the entrance and killed him. Narasimma’s anger was very severe. Nobody could control his anger. So. All prayed Lord Shiva to control the anger of Narasimma. Lord Shiva also took a fearsome pose called Sarabeswara. He had two feathers. He controlled the anger of Narasimma and made him cool. Lord Sarabeswara had two wings. One wing is Sri PrathyangiraDevi and another wing is Sri.Soolini Durga. Prathyangira Devi and Soolini Durga are the most fearsome poses of Goddess Parasakthi.Prathyangira Devi is called as Atharvana Badrakali and Sri.Soolini Durga is called, as Atharvan Rudrakali. She is the mother of all.

What do we get from Sri.Soolini Durga? She is the rescuer from enemies. She secures all the wealth and assets. She helps us to come across all enemies. She cures the mind and physic. She blesses us with good children. She gives a lot of knowledge and wisdom. Whenever we call her she comes instantly to support us. It is very hard to go near her. If we go near her it is sure that we will come out of all our troubles. The ways and methods of rituals to get rid of various problems. To have good kids, those who need the kids should eat the rice offered to her everyday for a period of at least 48 days. It is very sure that they will get good kids. To get rid of the mind related troubles “Panakam” (sweet water prepared with sugar candy and dried ginger) is to be offered to her and the offered sweet water is to be drunk by the person having mental troubles. To get rid of the enemies we have to light the lamp with mustard oil. To get rid of the evil spirits we have to offer her butter. She likes the offerings much and blesses her devotees with their ambitions fulfilled.

The method of Prayers.

Daily the minimum Abishegam(holy bathe) to be performed with water and milk. By having this holy bathe, she becomes cool and blesses the devotees with cool lifestyle. When one is affected by fearsome diseases like small pox and chicken pox we have to bathe the deity with water and tender coconut water. The patient should intake a small quantity of water and tender coconut water poured on the image. Within a span of twelve days, the patient will be cured. She cures the different kinds of fever. Fever means not only the hike of temperature in the physical body. It refers to the heat in the mind and poverty. She easily removes these kinds of things. We have another trouble. It is called a Dhrushti or bad eyes or najar. This is the worst one. By praying Sri.Soolini Durga on Tuesdays and Fridays with the offering of lemon, we can easily come across the thing. We face a lot of problems caused by the nine planets. The invisible planets crate a lot of things in this visible world. She cures the ailments caused by the nine planets. She is called as “Aavesa Graha samharyai Namaha”.She cures all kind of physical and mind related problems. She is called as “Vyaadhi Naasini”. The word “Vyadhi” means problems caused by the unseen forces. By praying her she removes all kinds of problems. She is called as the best blessing deity. Today we are facing legal litigation and we spend a lot of money to pay the attorneys. Sri Soolini Durga is the best attorney to settle all the problems. She is said as “Vivadha Samani”. To get rid of the legal problems, one should light nine lamps with mustard oil and red color wick for nine Tuesdays. By doing that, she becomes very happy and settles all the problems in a very smooth way. Another problem we face is “defame”. She is known as “Apavaatha Haraa”.To get rid of this problem on has to light eleven lamps with mustard oil and red color wick along with the offering of citrus fruits like orange and lemon. By this offering, she becomes very happy and solves the problem. Another problem is black magic and evil spirits’ problem. To solve this problem one should perform “Sri Atharva Soolini Maha mantra Japa and Homa” consecutively for 6 Sundays during the time of RaaghuKaalam roughly between 4.30 pm to 6.00pm. The offering through fire should be dry red chilies dipped in honey. The food to be offered is unsalted urad dhal vada, honey and fruits. By this, the Goddess becomes happy and solves the problem in wonderful way. This wonderful Devatha also solves many other problems not listed here.

The Most Important and Easiest way to get the blessings of Sri.Soolini Durga.

Tuesday, Friday and Sunday are the important days to pray Sri.Soolini Durga. All can come to the Temple and light lamps with wick and mustard oil, which is the best minimum prayer for Sri.Soolini Durga. That too particularly Raaghu kalam on these three days approximately 3.00pm to 4.30 pm, 10.30am to 12.00noon and 04.30 to 06.00pm are the best timings to light the lamp with mustard oil lamp. 6. KAALAI VAHANA MOORTHY Kaalai is “Nanthi” (Bull). Lord Shiva’s mount Nanthi Deva is a divine with a status to be worshiped. In all Shiva temples, the bull will be there in the entrance straight before ‘Karphagraha’ which describes the Sanctum sanatorium of Lord Shiva who is occupying the centralized chambers of temple. Lord is busy and on duty to attend his routine. The idol describes the duty consciousness. The devotees are given lessons of their duties and activities. Time is precious and no one should discard it. These doctrines are merged in this appearance. The youngsters, workers, job oriented persons and the investors are liable to follow their duties who expect their rewards on their duties of serving and earning. All the busy people who expect their gains on their service should worship this idol of Kaalai Vahana Moorthy and get His boons. The scene we find here is on journey. So, the people engaged in travel and transportation, should also to worship the Lord Kaalai Vahana Moorthy, with devotion. “Rishab Dev” is another name to Lord with same meaning of Lord Shiva and Bull. The religions other than Hindu is also give more prominence to this idol all over the universe.
